They are all set to start yet another chapter in their lives by stepping in High School. The education and grooming, the poise and grace attained during all these years will be tested. Let's come together to encourage them in showcasing their achievement and success with a sense a pride!
This article contains information about the Eight grade promotion exercise. We hope it will answer any questions you may have. Promotion is a very special occasion in your child's life, and we want it to be a memorable one for both you and your child.
- This year's promotion ceremony will take place at the San Luis High School Stadium, located at 1250 N 8th Ave, on Wednesday, May 19th, 2010.
- Graduating students are to meet in the multipurpose room at 6:00 p.m. We will be walking from there to the stadium, so it is important that your child be on time.
- The dance for the graduates will be held in the cafeteria at San Luis Middle School from 8:30 PM to 10:45 PM on Wednesday May 19th, 2010.
- All Students are required to attend school Thursday and Friday; May 20th and 21st, 2010. Diplomas will be given out the last day of school on Friday, May 21, 2010.
Our student handbook states that students may be excluded from the promotion ceremony and dance for discipline violations during the last 6 weeks of school. We will notify you if your child is suspended from the dance or promotion.
Students assigned to Summer School will be able to graduate and attend the ceremony. Their diplomas will be given to them when they have completed all the requirements for Summer School.
Please help us enforce the dress code to avoid being excluded from the ceremony.
Girls should wear: semi-formal attire (pants, skirt, or a dress). Tops should NOT be strapless or spaghetti-strapped unless a shawl or jacket is worn at ALL times. Shoulders and backs must be covered at all times. Dresses must not be shorter than fingertip length.
Boys must wear: Semi-formal attire (dark colored dress pants, light colored dress shirt is recommended), we would prefer that boys to wear a tie and black shoes, but it is not mandatory.
All students must comply with all other SLMS dress standards. Students who do not comply with the dress code will not be allowed to be part of the ceremony. We count on your cooperation to avoid any problems at the ceremony.
It is very important that your child understands that promotion is not the end of their education, but the beginning of their high school education.
