First Annual Pajama Run Challenge

On March 10th, San Luis Middle School Scorpions will take the Pajama Run Challenge by competing with each other in a 4 kilometer run. The event will start sharp at 7:45 am and all students will leave the campus by 10:15 am.

The students are very excited and looking forward to take the challenge!

All participants will get a free shirt, free emoji bracelet, and a race bib.

The top three positions in the race will get medal.

San Luis Middle School Beats Yuma Schools to Bag Second Position in Yuma County MathCounts!

Kudos to our SLMS Mathletes for bringing the honor to participate at state level after winning two spots in the Yuma County MathCounts Competition on February 9! They earned this honor by defeating around 80 students from schools all across Yuma and Dateland. The following students participated:

Alejandro Ramirez

Paola Ruvalcaba won the second position and Yezenia Diaz earned 4th spot in the county. Their coach, Mr. Cesar Castro, prepared them very well for this competition. His hard work and constant support paid off!

SLMS Spelling Bee Winners!

Our annual SLMS Spelling Bee was conducted on Thursday, December 14th, 2017. We are pleased to announce this year's proud winners:

3rd Place-Dominic Arce (8th Grader)

December PTO Gets Cancelled

Due to an overload of after school events (i.e., Sped Posada, Migrant Posada, Christmas Programs) taking place this month, our December PTO has been cancelled. Our next PTO will be on January 9th, 2018.

End of 2nd Quarter Grading Period

2nd quarter grading period ends on December 15th, 2017; these are official grades. Report cards will be handed out to parents/guardians during Parent-Teacher Conferences. Conferences will take place the same week we come back from Winter Break: January 3rd, 4th & 5th, 2018.

19th Annual Esperanza Latino Teacher Awards

We are extremely proud to announce that Mrs. Alvarez, our 7th grade ACT/Math teacher, was selected as one of the recipients for the '19th Annual Esperanza Latino Teacher Award.' The Esperanza Latino Teacher Awards recognizes four outstanding Latino educators for their impact on our future generations within the state of Arizona.

Mrs. Alvarez, our exemplary math teacher, will be honored at a special awards dinner on October 17th, 2017 at the Grand Canyon University Arena in Phoenix. She will receive a $5,000 cash award and a stipend of $2,500 to help our school.

Hard work pays off. Congratulations, Mrs. Alvarez!
