Today, Tuesday, February 11th, Edgar Vargas, participated in the Yuma County Spelling Bee at the AWC Shoening Center. Although Edgar didn't place in the top ranks, he demonstrated tenacity and courage as well as persevered through the mid round. We are extremely proud of his accomplishments taking the ACT exam last weekend, attending AWC in the afternoon, as well as studying for this rigorous competition. This summer, Edgar will attend Roger Williams University, in Bristol, Rhode Island. He has enrolled in Paradoxes and Infinities, and will be embarking on this endeavor this summer. Schools across the country are participating in "Blue Shirt Day - World Day of Bullying Prevention." All students and staff are encouraged to wear a blue shirt to show they're taking a stand against bullying on Monday, October 7th, 2019. This event is free of cost. We want a sea of blue at San Luis Middle School showing we will “STOMP” bullying.

Students and staff, we highly encourage you to stand against bullying by wearing a blue shirt or sweater tomorrow!

We want to celebrate our September Ambassador of Excellence: Israel Sanchez. Israel deserves to be this month's Ambassador of Excellence due to his accomplishments and exemplar academic and behavior standing. Israel is part of our ACT cohort, is taking AWC courses, is part of our PBIS Club, and is always seeking ways to help his teachers and peers. This future engineer is consistently following our Scorpion Shield; he encourages others to do the same. Congratulations, Israel! Thank you for being such a dedicated, humble student!!! 🍎🦂🥇🏆
